E-ADMISSIONS



In present day scenario, a student goes to a counseling center to get admission in an institution. This is time consuming. Moreover the colleges are not able to select the students of their choice. The main aim of this project is to convert the existing paper filling admission process into electronic filling for all new under graduate student admissions. We create a web application for prospective students to apply for admission into the list of available colleges and courses of desired university and track the status of their application. We create an administrative web interface for the college admissions officers to review, track, and process new student applications.
The visitors to the E-ADMISSIONS can be both students and colleges. The student can search and fill the admission forms of selected colleges. College administration selects the students based on their academic performance and confirms their admissions. Student can also pay the fees through online after receiving the confirmation. The fees payment can be done in two ways using credit card or DD number through online. There is also an access control system, which prevents unauthorized public to access all the information, whereas subscribed users can have full access to all available information.
         
 INTRODUCTION

 MOTIVATION

The colleges for which this application has been developed were facing huge problems in the management of the admission process. Every year, students in thousands queue up for collecting admission forms and then again for submitting them. This leads to problems in managing the applications, resulting in annoyed parents and students (alike). Also, the admission process is not transparent, leading to scope for widespread malpractices.
          In order to rectify these shortcomings, the online admissions system is developed. Here students need not collect physical forms, they are required to fill the admission form and submit it online. This saves a lot of time and effort on the part of the college as well as for the students. Since students interact with colleges, only the deserving candidates can get admission into the college.

PROBLEM DEFINITION:

          Generally in order to get admission into an institution, the student should definitely go to the Counseling Center. In this process, colleges will not be able to pick the students of their choice. There is no proper scope of interaction between Colleges and Students. This process is quiet time consuming and hectic mainly for the students who come from long distances.

·        Present system involves more human power. As the students who apply for the colleges are not small in number, much coordination is required in order to organize the counseling process.

·        The students coming from long distances cannot afford to stay for long time near the counseling centers.


OBJECTIVE OF PROJECT
The E- Admissions provides a way to get registered by entering all the details of the candidates and apply to the interested college and check the status of his admission. The application also allows the user to generate reports based on specific criteria.
This E-ADMISSION page is for maintaining the data about the candidates who apply for various courses. The details (admission procedures, applicant’s qualifications, list of processed applications, mode of admissions (Credit Card, Demand Draft), confirmed candidates, important dates and the like) are stored in a repository and can be accessed only by authenticated users.

OVERIEW OF E-ADMISSION:
E-ADMISSION brings convenience to the applicants and speeds up the processing of their submitted forms. Applying for admission through on-line is just part of the picture.  Behind the scene is a sophisticated information system that provides the necessary back-end support for processing the applications and catering for the unique requirements of individual programs of studies.
A prospective student can apply for admission simply by filling in the on-line application form of the chosen stream and follow any application requirements of the specification.  While the application is being filled, the user who ever it may be either the college or student is asked to choose their username and password. The username provided by the user is then checked for the availability. If it exists the users are asked to provide another username and even that is validated likewise, else that is declared as their username with which they can access their profiles in our application by logging in. After the details are successfully submitted, username will be shown in the acknowledgement web page. Therefore, applicants can enjoy a straightforward application procedure while getting a secure on-line payment service.

Ø The ability to amend the application right up to the deadline date.
Ø  No risk that the application will get lost.
Ø  No need to rush back to submit forms in the college.
Ø Immediate online notification.
Ø The proposed system is a centralized internet based application, which allows user to login from anywhere.
Ø Eliminates data input errors.
Ø Less storage space is required to keep electronic applications.




 LIMITATIONS OF THE PROJECT

·        Ensure that Online School Admissions systems can integrate with your back-end office databases to ensure efficiencies are gained through single-answer input from users.
·        Have adequate security features to protect applications when they are submitted and stored through the online system.
·        Are retrieving accurate pupil address data. Check the stored information in the core dataset before allowing access to the information via the Online School Admissions system.
